| FIFA declared the result of the World Cup qualifying play-off between Uzbekistan and Bahrain on 3 September 2004 void because the Japanese referee Toshimitsu Yoshida made a technical error in disallowing an Uzbekistan penalty. He then awarded Bahrain a free-kick instead of ordering it to be retaken. Uzbekistan's 1-0 win was wiped out and the second leg due to have taken place on 7 September in Bahrain was postponed. The tie was replayed on 8 and 12 October. |
